The gates to campus!
This is a blog for all my students, friends, and family who wish to keep in touch with me while I'm up in chilly Cambridge, MA attending the Arts in Education program at Harvard's GSE. I hope you all enjoy browsing through it, and please feel free to leave messages. I would love to hear from you--I miss you all so much and appreciate everything you've done for me to help me accomplish this longtime goal. I can't wait to share my adventures here with you!
I was born and raised in Alexandria, VA and went to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA for undergrad. I loved it there for lots of reasons, the beautiful surroundings, the history, the people, my sorority, and meeting my future husband within two days of my arrival for freshman orientation! After graduation from W&M, I taught remedial reading for two years in Bunn, North Carolina through Teach For America. It was here that I discovered I really wanted to be a teacher. My students were amazing in so many ways and pushed me to challenge myself and explore new territory. It was hard to leave, but I am now in Cambridge in the Arts in Education program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After my wedding on June 29th, 2007 (yay!), Brian and I hope to move to Maine where he will fly his P3s and I will return to the classroom to open the minds of my students to all the possibilities this beautiful, thrilling, often intimidating, world has to offer. I am also thinking about working in a children's museum in the future and maybe even attempting to write children's books...maybe!
